Directions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a small baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Separate 2 crescent dough triangles and lay them flat.
- Tear or fold the sliced ham into pieces that fit comfortably inside each crescent without extending far beyond the edges.
- Divide the shredded cheese between the 2 crescents, keeping the filling modest and concentrated toward the wider end.
- Starting at the wide end, roll each crescent toward the pointed end, keeping the ham and cheese tucked inside.
- If desired, lightly brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with a small pinch of garlic powder.
- Place the crescent spirals on the prepared baking sheet with space between them.
- Bake at 375°F for 12 minutes, or until the dough is cooked through and naturally golden and the cheese inside has melted.
- Allow the crescent spirals to cool before serving or packing in a child’s lunch.
- Refrigerate extras in a covered container and reheat in the oven or air fryer when desired.
Lunch & Meal Prep Tips
Keep the Filling Modest: A small amount of ham and shredded cheese makes the crescents easier to roll and helps keep the filling inside as they bake.
Fold the Ham to Fit: Tear or fold larger slices of ham so they stay inside the crescent dough rather than hanging over the edges.
Meal Prep Several Flavors: Use the remaining crescent dough to make Sara’s other filling combinations at the same time for an easy variety of lunches and snacks throughout the week.
Cool Before Packing: Let the crescent spirals cool before placing them in a lunch container so trapped steam does not soften the baked dough.
Refrigerate Extras: Store leftover baked spirals in a covered container in the refrigerator for quick lunches and snacks later in the week.
Refresh Before Serving: Warm refrigerated crescent spirals in the oven or air fryer when desired to help restore some of the freshly baked texture.
For Younger Children: Allow the crescent spirals to cool completely and cut them into pieces appropriate for your child’s age and eating abilities before serving.
