Ingredients are subject to availability at local stores. Unavailable items will be automatically substituted at best-effort.
Directions
- In a large bowl, place tilapia filets. Add salt, white pepper, and cornstarch. Mix until the fish is evenly coated.
- Heat neutral oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the coated fish one piece at a time, stirring gently to prevent sticking. Fry until golden brown and crispy.
- Once the fish reaches your desired crispiness, add onion, red bell pepper, and romano beans. Cook slightly, then strain the oil from the pan, reserving the fish and vegetables.
- In the now empty pan, add the sauce ingredients: ketchup, sugar, pineapple pieces (with juice), MSG, and vinegar. Turn up the heat and let the sauce reduce until it thickens slightly.
- Add the fried fish and vegetables back into the pan and toss to coat evenly in the sweet and sour sauce.
- Serve immediately with steamed rice. Enjoy!
