Directions
- Trim the ends from the GREEN BEANS and rinse them thoroughly.
- Cut the skin-on RED POTATOES into bite-sized cubes, keeping the pieces relatively even so they cook at the same rate.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and sauté the ONION until softened and lightly translucent.
- Add the GARLIC and cook briefly until fragrant. Avoid browning or burning it.
- Add the sliced TURKEY SAUSAGE to the skillet and cook until the edges become lightly crisp and browned.
- Cook the BACON until browned, then chop it into bite-sized pieces.
- In a small bowl, whisk the CORNSTARCH with a small amount of water until completely smooth and free of lumps.
- Add the green beans, potatoes, sautéed onion and garlic, turkey sausage, and chopped bacon to the slow cooker.
- Pour in the CHICKEN STOCK and cornstarch slurry.
- Add the SALTED BUTTER.
- Season with SALT, BLACK PEPPER, ONION POWDER, GARLIC POWDER, PAPRIKA, and RED CHILI FLAKES to taste.
- Stir gently until all ingredients are evenly distributed and coated in the broth and seasonings.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on HIGH for approximately 4 hours.
- Check that the potatoes are fork-tender and the green beans are soft and fully flavored.
- Stir gently before serving so the melted butter, seasonings, and thickened broth coat the green beans and other ingredients.
- Serve hot as a comforting side dish alongside your favorite Southern-style main course.
