Superfoods in This Recipe
- Cherries: Cherries contain vitamin C, fiber, potassium, and antioxidant plant compounds called anthocyanins. These nutrients help support normal immune function, digestion, and overall cellular health.
- Limes: Limes provide vitamin C and naturally occurring citrus compounds. Vitamin C supports normal immune function and helps the body absorb iron from plant-based foods.
- Lime zest: The zest contains concentrated citrus oils and flavonoid plant compounds. It adds fresh flavor while contributing small amounts of antioxidants without requiring additional sugar.
Ingredients:
- 3 cups cherries (fresh, pitted)
- 4 limes (segmented with the white pith removed)
- 3 limes (zested)
- 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
- 2 cups water (for blending)
- 1 1/2 - 2 cups water (to taste)
- ice (for serving)
- cherries (optional, for serving)
- slices lime (optional, for serving)
Ingredients are subject to availability at local stores. Unavailable items will be automatically substituted at best-effort.
Directions
- Pit the FRESH CHERRIES and place them in a high-powered blender.
- Peel and segment the LIMES, carefully removing as much of the bitter white pith as possible.
- Add the lime segments, LIME ZEST, and 2 cups of the WATER to the blender.
- Blend until the cherries and limes are completely broken down and the mixture is smooth.
- Pour the blended fruit mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into a large pitcher.
- Press the mixture gently with a spoon or spatula to extract as much liquid as possible. Skip straining for a thicker drink with more fruit pulp.
- Add the SWEETENED CONDENSED MILK to the strained fruit mixture.
- Stir thoroughly until the condensed milk is fully incorporated and the limeade has an even creamy pink color.
- Add 1½ cups of the additional WATER and stir well.
- Taste the limeade and add up to another ½ cup of water until it reaches your preferred sweetness and consistency.
- Fill individual serving glasses with ICE.
- Pour the Creamy Cherry Limeade over the ice and garnish with additional FRESH CHERRIES or LIME SLICES, if desired.
- Keep the remaining limeade chilled and avoid adding ice directly to the pitcher so the drink does not become diluted as it sits.
Recipe Notes
- Remove the white pith from the limes because it may make the drink taste bitter.
- Adjust the additional water gradually. Juicier fruit may require less dilution.
- Strain the blended mixture for a silky drink, or leave the pulp for a thicker, more rustic texture.
- Serve the limeade over ice in individual glasses instead of adding ice directly to the pitcher.
