Directions

  1. Marinate the steak: In a bowl, combine juice of 2 limes, 2 tablespoons olive oil, 3 minced garlic cloves, ¼ cup fresh chopped cilantro, 1 teaspoon ground cumin, ½ teaspoon chili powder, salt, and black pepper to taste. Add 1 lb flank steak or skirt steak and turn to coat. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes (up to 2 hours).
  2. Cook the steak: Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and let any excess drip off. Cook for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Transfer to a cutting board and let rest for 5 minutes.
  3. Slice the steak: Slice the rested steak thinly against the grain.
  4. Warm the tortillas: Warm 8 small flour or corn tortillas in a dry skillet over medium heat or in the microwave.
  5. Assemble the tacos: Divide the sliced steak among the warm tortillas. Top with diced onions, sliced avocado, salsa, shredded lettuce, sour cream, and extra cilantro as desired.
  6. Serve: Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side. Enjoy!
