The best classic chili recipe, just like you grew up with! Packed with seasoned ground beef, hearty beans, fire-roasted tomatoes, and a rich, perfectly spiced broth. Simmered low and slow, this chili is easy to make and perfect for game day, cozy nights, or topping with all your favorites.
Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 large onion (diced)
- 2-3 jalapeno peppers (diced (use bell peppers for milder heat))
- 6 cloves garlic
- 2 lbs lean ground beef
- 3 tbsp chili powder (or more to taste)
- 1 tbsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for extra spice)
- salt (to taste)
- black pepper (to taste)
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 1/2 cups beef broth
- 1 15 oz can crushed tomatoes (with juices)
- 2 15 oz cans red kidney beans (drained and rinsed)
- 1 tbsp hot sauce (optional, to taste)
- 1 tbsp red pepper flakes (optional, to taste, for extra spice)

Directions
- Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add 1 diced large onion and 2-3 diced jalapeño peppers (or bell pepper for milder heat). Cook for 2-3 minutes to soften.
- Add 6 cloves of garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add 2 pounds lean ground beef and break apart with a wooden spoon. Brown the meat for 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in 3 tablespoons chili powder, 1 tablespoon ground cumin, 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for extra spice), salt, black pepper to taste, and 2 tablespoons tomato paste. Cook for 1-2 minutes to let the spices bloom.
- Add 1½ cups beef broth, 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes with juices (fire-roasted recommended), 1 can (15 oz) crushed tomatoes with juices, and 2 cans (15 oz each) red kidney beans, drained and rinsed. Stir to combine.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors develop. You can simmer longer for deeper flavor, up to 60 minutes.
- Add optional extras like hot sauce or red pepper flakes to taste.
- Serve hot with your favorite toppings: shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, chopped green onion, cilantro, Fritos, or tortilla chips. Enjoy!
