Simple Homemade Chicken Katsu Curry 🍛

Crispy chicken katsu, cozy curry sauce, and fluffy rice — the ultimate comfort meal from your own kitchen. This version is easy, fast, and oh-so-satisfying. Perfect for a weeknight or whenever you need that cozy Japanese-style hug on a plate.

👨‍🍳 Method

  1. Make the Sauce: In a saucepan, sauté onion in oil until soft. Add garlic, ginger, and curry powder. Stir in flour and cook for 1 min. Gradually whisk in stock, soy sauce, and honey. Simmer until thickened.
  2. Prep the Chicken: Flatten chicken slightly. Season with salt and pepper. Coat in flour, dip in egg, and cover in panko.
  3. Fry: Shallow fry in oil for 3–4 mins per side or until golden and cooked through. Drain on paper towel.
  4. Slice & Serve: Slice chicken, serve over steamed rice, and pour curry sauce on top. Optional garnish: chopped scallions or sesame seeds.
