Cajun White Fish and Asparagus in a Spicy Garlic Butter Sauce

This bold and buttery skillet recipe brings flaky Cajun-spiced white fish and tender asparagus together in a rich, spicy garlic butter sauce — all made in under 30 minutes with one pan.

Directions

  1. Pat the white fish fillets dry and season generously on both sides with Cajun seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter and add a drizzle of olive oil.
  3. Place the seasoned fish fillets in the skillet and sear for 3–4 minutes on one side until golden, then flip and cook another 2–3 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add more butter and toss in minced garlic. Sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Add trimmed asparagus to the skillet, season lightly with Cajun seasoning and crushed red pepper flakes, and sauté until tender-crisp (about 4–5 minutes).
  6. Return the cooked fish to the pan, spoon the spicy garlic butter over everything, and finish with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice and chopped parsley.
  7. Serve hot with your choice of rice, mashed potatoes, or crusty bread.
