The Picky Eater Reset: DIY Chicken Nugget Dipping Bar

June 24, 2026

This Recipe is part of our Picky Eater Reset

Why It’s Included

Many picky eaters are highly comfortable with chicken nuggets because they are predictable, crunchy, and familiar.

Tonight introduces a new challenge:
exploring flavors through dips and side foods.

Instead of asking children to eat entirely new foods, we’re encouraging them to interact with new flavors in a safe and familiar format.

Research shows that dipping can increase willingness to try unfamiliar foods because it makes the experience feel playful and child-led.

The goal tonight isn’t to love broccoli.

The goal is to discover that trying something new can be fun.

Parent Coaching Corner

Tonight is about experimentation.

Avoid:

❌ “Eat your broccoli.”

❌ “Try the ranch with it.”

❌ “You’ll like it if you dip it.”

Instead say:

✅ “Which dip looks interesting?”

✅ “What happens when you try that combination?”

✅ “Which sauce is your favorite?”

Children often become more willing to try foods when the experience feels playful rather than pressured.
