This Juicy Salmon recipe by SarahKay packs bold, umami-rich flavor in every bite. With a sweet and spicy soy glaze and perfectly crisped skin, this pan-seared, oven-finished salmon is simple, savory, and seriously satisfying.

- Using a sharp knife, carefully slice through the salmon skin without cutting all the way through the flesh.
- Sprinkle salt over the skin and press it in firmly.
- In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, dark brown sugar, and a pinch of MSG.
- Chop a fresh chili pepper and add it to the sauce mix.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet and place the salmon in skin-side down. Pour the sauce mixture over the top of the fish.
- Sear the salmon on both sides until nicely browned, then transfer the pan to the oven to finish cooking through.
- Once removed from the oven, spoon the remaining pan sauce over the salmon and serve hot.
