Family Favorite Pepper Steak

Tender strips of steak marinated in a savory-sweet sauce and wok-fried with crisp bell peppers and onions, creating a classic pepper steak that’s sure to become a family favorite.
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp maggi jugo (or you can use Worcestershire)
- 1 1/2 tbsp honey
- 2 tsp hot sesame oil
- 1 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 - 1 tsp chili flakes
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 cut fresh ginger
- 1 1/2 thin-sliced flank steak
- 3 bell peppers
- 1 onion
- 1 tbsp cornstarch (for slurry)
- 2 tbsp water (for slurry)
Directions
- To a bowl, add soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, maggi jugo, honey, sesame oil, black pepper, chili flakes, garlic, and grated ginger. Mix well to combine.
- Add steak strips and coat thoroughly with the marinade.
- Cover and allow to marinate for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
- Add marinated steak to a wok over medium-high heat with oil.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes, then remove about 1 cup of the liquid the steak releases.
- Cook meat for 2-3 more minutes, then remove from wok.
- Add more oil to the pan and cook bell peppers and onion for about 5 minutes until slightly tender.
- Return meat to wok with vegetables, along with the reserved juice.
- Make a slurry with cornstarch and water, then add to the wok and stir to combine.
- Cook for 2-3 more minutes until the sauce thickens and coats everything evenly.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
