Spicy, savory, and packed with umami, this Thai Basil Chicken is your weeknight dinner hero. With just a few staple ingredients, it’s ready to serve in 15 minutes flat.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 Thai red chilis, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
- 2 tbsp neutral oil (e.g., canola or vegetable)
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp fish sauce
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 cup Thai holy basil leaves (or sweet basil if unavailable)
- Steamed jasmine rice, for serving
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add garlic and chilies and stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the ground chicken and cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until fully cooked (about 4-5 minutes).
- Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, and sugar. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until everything is coated.
- Add basil leaves and stir just until wilted (about 30 seconds).
- Serve over hot jasmine rice, topped with a crispy fried egg if desired.
