These crostinis are the ultimate crowd-pleaser — savory seared steak, umami-rich mushrooms, and creamy burrata layered on crisp toasted bread. Whether you’re hosting or just treating yourself, this elevated appetizer is bursting with flavor and feels fancy without the fuss.

Directions

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and pour in olive oil.

  2. Add the mushrooms and thyme to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, until browned all over.

  3. Stir in the garlic, then season with a generous pinch of salt and pepper.

  4. Pour in the cream and cook until the sauce becomes glossy and thickened. Set aside.

  5. In a second skillet, heat over high heat (open windows and turn on the fan — trust us, it gets smoky!).

  6. Season the steak thoroughly with salt and pepper.

  7. Add neutral oil (like canola or avocado oil) to the hot pan, then place the steak in the skillet.

  8. Cook the steak, turning every 2 minutes, for a total of 8 minutes.

  9. Add the butter to the pan and baste the steak with it until the internal temperature reaches 125°F for medium-rare (cook longer if desired).

  10. Let the steak rest for at least 10 minutes before carving it into thin slices.
