  1. Slice beef chuck into thin strips and place in a large mixing bowl.
  2. In a food processor, combine soy sauce, mirin, sesame oil, sugar, honey, peeled ginger, garlic cloves, a peeled and sliced pear, and black pepper. Blend until smooth to create your marinade.
  3. Add thinly sliced brown onion to the bowl with the beef and pour the marinade over top.
  4. Massage the marinade into the beef and refrigerate for several hours to let the flavors develop.
  5. Preheat a barbecue or grill pan over high heat.
  6. Place the beef onto the hot grill and sear until caramelized on one side, then flip and continue cooking until deeply browned and cooked through.
  7. Remove the beef from the heat and plate alongside jasmine rice.
  8. Garnish with sesame seeds and finely sliced spring onion before serving.
