- Slice beef chuck into thin strips and place in a large mixing bowl.
- In a food processor, combine soy sauce, mirin, sesame oil, sugar, honey, peeled ginger, garlic cloves, a peeled and sliced pear, and black pepper. Blend until smooth to create your marinade.
- Add thinly sliced brown onion to the bowl with the beef and pour the marinade over top.
- Massage the marinade into the beef and refrigerate for several hours to let the flavors develop.
- Preheat a barbecue or grill pan over high heat.
- Place the beef onto the hot grill and sear until caramelized on one side, then flip and continue cooking until deeply browned and cooked through.
- Remove the beef from the heat and plate alongside jasmine rice.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and finely sliced spring onion before serving.
