Homemade Wendy’s Junior Bacon Cheeseburger
The iconic Wendy’s Junior Bacon Cheeseburger — smoky bacon, melty cheese, and a juicy beef patty stacked with lettuce, tomato, and mayo on a toasted bun. This homemade version gives you all the fast-food flavor with fresh, simple ingredients.
-
Ingredients:
For the Burgers (Makes 4):
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 preferred)
- Salt and pepper, to season
- 4 hamburger buns (classic or brioche)
- 4 slices American cheese
- 8 slices crispy bacon
- 4 leaves romaine or iceberg lettuce
- 1 large tomato, sliced
- Mayonnaise (about 1 tbsp per burger)
- Butter for toasting buns (optional)

Instructions
- Form the Patties: Divide ground beef into 4 small patties, slightly wider than the buns. Press thin — JBCs are known for thinner patties.
- Season & Cook: Season with salt and pepper. Cook patties on a hot skillet or grill for 2–3 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through. Add cheese slices on top during the last 30 seconds to melt.
- Cook the Bacon: While burgers cook, fry or bake bacon until crispy. Drain on paper towels.
- Toast the Buns: Lightly butter and toast the buns cut-side down in a skillet until golden (optional, but recommended).
- Assemble the Burgers: Spread mayo on both buns. Layer bottom bun with lettuce, tomato slice, cheeseburger patty, and 2 slices of bacon. Top with the bun lid.
- Serve Hot: Enjoy immediately while warm, juicy, and melty!

JBC Tips & Variations
- Use American cheese for the true fast-food flavor — no substitutions!
- Keep the patty thin — a thinner burger gives that signature JBC texture.
- For a toasted finish: Press assembled burgers in a hot pan (like a panini press) for a melty, crispy effect.
- Add pickles or onions if you want to customize the flavor — Wendy’s keeps it simple, but you don’t have to.
- Pair with: Frosty, fries, or your favorite wrap to build your own Wendy’s meal at home!
