Directions

  1. In a bowl, crack eggs. Add milk, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk until well combined.
  2. Heat a pan over medium-high heat. Melt butter in the pan.
  3. Dip thick-cut bread (brioche, challah, white sandwich bread, or sourdough) into the egg mixture, coating both sides evenly. Let the bread soak for about 20 seconds per side.
  4. Place the soaked bread in the hot pan. Cook until golden brown on the first side, about 1-2 minutes.
  5. Flip the French toast. While cooking the second side, sprinkle sugar on the cooked side and let it caramelize. Repeat on the other side after flipping back if desired.
  6. Remove from the pan and serve warm with your favorite toppings: maple syrup, fresh berries, powdered sugar, or whipped cream. Enjoy!
