Soft, chewy, and loaded with gooey chocolate chips, these cookies are everything you want in a classic treat. The browned butter adds a rich, nutty depth that makes them taste gourmet with minimal effort. Simple ingredients, unforgettable flavor.

- Brown the butter: Melt butter in a pan over medium heat, stirring constantly until golden with brown specks and a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and let cool 10–15 minutes.
- Mix butter + sugars: Whisk browned butter with brown sugar and white sugar until smooth.
- Add egg + yolk + vanilla: Whisk in one egg, one egg yolk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Mix dry ingredients separately: In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Combine dry + wet: Stir the dry ingredients into the wet until just combined. Don’t overmix!
- Add chocolate chips and scoop the dough onto a baking sheet.
- Chill the dough for 30–60 minutes for best texture.
- Bake at 350°F for 10–12 minutes, until just golden. Do not overbake.
- Cool on the pan for 10–15 minutes before serving.
