
Savory Ground Beef & Mushroom Gravy

Ingredients:

Main
- 1 lb ground beef (85/15 or leaner)
- 1 tbsp olive oil or butter
- 1 small yellow onion (finely diced)
- 3 garlic cloves (minced)
- 8 oz cremini mushrooms (sliced)
- 2 tbsp flour
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Salt & freshly cracked black pepper (to taste)
Gravy Base
- 1 3/4 cups beef broth (low sodium)
- 1/4 cup heavy cream or sour cream (optional)
🍳 Instructions

Brown the Beef:
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the beef (6–8 min). Drain excess fat and set aside. -
Sauté the Mushrooms & Onions:
In the same pan, heat olive oil if needed. Add onions and mushrooms. Cook until softened and golden (5–7 min). Add garlic and cook 1 more minute. -
Build the Flavor Base:
Stir in flour, tomato paste, Worcestershire, soy sauce, thyme, paprika, salt, and pepper. Toast for 1–2 minutes. -
Make the Gravy:
Slowly whisk in beef broth. Stir constantly. Bring to a simmer, then return beef to the pan. Simmer for 10–12 min until thick. -
Optional Richness:
Stir in heavy cream or sour cream for a creamy finish. -
Serve:
Spoon over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles. Garnish with chopped parsley or chives.
