Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef or turkey
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
- 8 small flour or corn tortillas
Directions
-
Prepare the filling: In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground meat until browned. Drain excess fat. Add taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened. Set aside.
-
Assemble the tacos: Place a small amount of taco meat and shredded cheese on half of each tortilla. Fold over and secure with a toothpick if needed.
-
Heat the oil: In a deep skillet, heat ½ inch of oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
-
Fry the tacos: Carefully place folded tacos into the hot oil. Fry for 2–3 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy. Don’t overcrowd the pan.
-
Drain and serve: Remove tacos and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Remove toothpicks.
-
Top and enjoy: Serve with your favorite taco toppings or dipping sauces!
