Ingredients:
Brown Butter
- 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter (1 stick)
Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup all- purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- pinch of salt
Wet Ingredients
- 2 large egg
- 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/3 cup buttermilk
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
Ice Cream
- Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (for topping)

1. Brown the butter
- Add butter to a pan over medium heat.
- Let it melt, foam, then turn golden with brown specks at the bottom.
- Remove from heat and cool slightly.
2. Mix dry ingredients
In a bowl, whisk:
- Flour
- Sugar
- Baking powder
- Baking soda
- Cinnamon
- Salt
3. Mix wet ingredients
In another bowl:
- Eggs
- Maple syrup
- Buttermilk
- Vanilla
- Browned butter
Whisk until smooth.
4. Combine
- Pour wet into dry.
- Mix gently until just combined (thick, pourable batter).
5. Bake
You can bake the cake in an 8×8 pan or ramekins you’re not serving in these.
- Line or grease the pan.
- Pour in batter.
- Bake at 350°F for 22–28 minutes or until golden and set in the center.
- Cool for 10 minutes so it stays soft but doesn’t fall apart.
