Ingredients:

1. Brown the butter

  • Add butter to a pan over medium heat.
  • Let it melt, foam, then turn golden with brown specks at the bottom.
  • Remove from heat and cool slightly.

2. Mix dry ingredients

In a bowl, whisk:

  • Flour
  • Sugar
  • Baking powder
  • Baking soda
  • Cinnamon
  • Salt

3. Mix wet ingredients

In another bowl:

  • Eggs
  • Maple syrup
  • Buttermilk
  • Vanilla
  • Browned butter

Whisk until smooth.

4. Combine

  • Pour wet into dry.
  • Mix gently until just combined (thick, pourable batter).

5. Bake

You can bake the cake in an 8×8 pan or ramekins you’re not serving in these.

  • Line or grease the pan.
  • Pour in batter.
  • Bake at 350°F for 22–28 minutes or until golden and set in the center.
  • Cool for 10 minutes so it stays soft but doesn’t fall apart.
