These hearty baked beans combine seasoned ground beef, onions, bell peppers, garlic, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, and molasses. Baked until thick and deeply flavorful, they make a satisfying side dish for barbecues, cookouts, and family dinners.

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F.
  2. Place the GROUND BEEF in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Season the beef with SALT, BLACK PEPPER, GARLIC POWDER, and ONION POWDER.
  4. Cook the ground beef, breaking it into crumbles, until it is browned and no pink remains.
  5. Add the chopped YELLOW ONION, GREEN BELL PEPPER, RED BELL PEPPER, and minced GARLIC.
  6. Continue cooking until the vegetables soften and the garlic becomes fragrant. Drain excess grease if necessary.
  7. Pour the BAKED BEANS into a large baking dish.
  8. Add the cooked ground beef and vegetable mixture to the beans.
  9. Add the KETCHUP, MUSTARD, BARBECUE SAUCE, and BROWN SUGAR.
  10. Pour the MOLASSES</span over the mixture to add sweetness and deepen the color.
  11. Stir everything together until the meat, vegetables, beans, and sauces are evenly combined.
  12. Bake uncovered for 30 minutes, or until the beans are hot, bubbling, and slightly thickened around the edges.
  13. Carefully remove the baking dish from the oven, stir, and serve warm.
