Tender, flavorful, and fall-off-the-bone delicious, these oven baked ribs are an easy way to enjoy barbecue perfection at home without a grill. The slow cooking in the oven locks in moisture and lets the rub and sauce fully develop, giving you ribs that are juicy and packed with rich smoky flavor.
Ingredients:
Directions
- Preheat your oven: Set the oven to 275°F (135°C). Line a large baking sheet with foil for easy cleanup.
- Prepare the ribs: Remove the silver skin membrane from the back of the ribs by sliding a knife under it and pulling it off using a paper towel for grip.
- Apply the dry rub: In a bowl, mix together your favorite dry rub ingredients (paprika, brown sugar, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder). Rub the mixture generously all over both sides of the ribs.
- Wrap ribs tightly: Place the ribs on the foil-lined baking sheet and cover them tightly with aluminum foil to trap moisture.
- Bake low and slow: Bake in the oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, until the meat is tender and easily pulls away from the bone.
- Glaze and broil: Remove ribs from the oven and carefully unwrap the foil. Brush your favorite barbecue sauce generously on both sides. Switch oven to broil, then place ribs under the broiler for 3-5 minutes to caramelize the sauce—watch closely to avoid burning.
- Rest and serve: Let the ribs rest for 5 minutes before slicing between the bones. Serve with extra barbecue sauce on the side.
