Tender, flavorful, and fall-off-the-bone delicious, these oven baked ribs are an easy way to enjoy barbecue perfection at home without a grill. The slow cooking in the oven locks in moisture and lets the rub and sauce fully develop, giving you ribs that are juicy and packed with rich smoky flavor.

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven: Set the oven to 275°F (135°C). Line a large baking sheet with foil for easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare the ribs: Remove the silver skin membrane from the back of the ribs by sliding a knife under it and pulling it off using a paper towel for grip.
  3. Apply the dry rub: In a bowl, mix together your favorite dry rub ingredients (paprika, brown sugar, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder). Rub the mixture generously all over both sides of the ribs.
  4. Wrap ribs tightly: Place the ribs on the foil-lined baking sheet and cover them tightly with aluminum foil to trap moisture.
  5. Bake low and slow: Bake in the oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, until the meat is tender and easily pulls away from the bone.
  6. Glaze and broil: Remove ribs from the oven and carefully unwrap the foil. Brush your favorite barbecue sauce generously on both sides. Switch oven to broil, then place ribs under the broiler for 3-5 minutes to caramelize the sauce—watch closely to avoid burning.
  7. Rest and serve: Let the ribs rest for 5 minutes before slicing between the bones. Serve with extra barbecue sauce on the side.
