Being away from home doesn’t mean your snack game has to suffer. Whether you’re on a family vacation or stuck in a hotel between activities, these creative, kid-friendly snacks are proof that you can make fun, satisfying treats without a full kitchen.

All you need is a microwave, a mini fridge, and a few easy-to-pack ingredients

Maple Bacon Sweet Potato Boats

Ingredients:
  • 1 medium sweet potato
  • 1 strip pre-cooked bacon
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp butter
  • Dash of cinnamon
Directions:
  1. Pierce sweet potato with a fork several times. Microwave on high for 5–6 minutes until soft.
  2. Let cool slightly, then slice open lengthwise.
  3. Add butter and a dash of cinnamon. Mash lightly with a fork inside the skin.
  4. Drizzle with maple syrup and top with chopped pre-cooked bacon.

Cinnamon Swirl Apple Mug Muffins

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 apple, diced
  • 3 tbsp flour (or oat flour)
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup or honey
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon

Directions:
  1. Add all ingredients into a microwave-safe mug. Mix well.

  • 1 banana
  • 1–2 tbsp peanut butter

Directions:
  1. Spread peanut butter evenly over the tortilla.

Directions:
  1. Flatten sugar cookie dough into a round, about 3 inches wide, on a microwave-safe plate.
  2. Microwave on high for 45–60 seconds, or until set but still soft in the center. Let cool completely.
  3. Once cooled, top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
  4. Decorate with sprinkles or crushed freeze-dried fruit.
  5. Serve immediately for a fun, handheld dessert pizza.
