The tools and ingredients I reach for again and again

These are the kitchen staples I genuinely love and use—from the skillet that gives steak the perfect sear to the finishing salt that adds the final touch. They’re the tools and ingredients I find myself reaching for again and again.

CAST IRON SKILLET
One of my favorite pans to cook with. I love how well cast iron holds heat and gives meat a really good sear. I especially love using mine for steaks and cornbread, and I use my grill pan when I’m making burgers and want those grill marks.
MICROPLANE
I use this all the time for freshly grated Parmesan, garlic, citrus zest, and more. It’s such a simple tool, but it’s one I constantly reach for in the kitchen.

AVOCADO OIL
My go-to cooking oil, especially for higher-heat cooking because of its high smoke point and neutral flavor.
FINISHING OLIVE OIL
I love a good finishing olive oil for that final drizzle over pastas, salads, vegetables, and other finished dishes. This is one I use after cooking rather than as my everyday cooking oil.

DIAMOND CRYSTAL
KOSHER SALT
KOSHER SALT
This is my everyday cooking salt. I love the light crystals because they’re easy to pinch, distribute evenly, and help me control the seasoning as I cook. It’s easier to season with without making a dish overly salty compared with table salt.
MALDON SEA SALT
My favorite finishing salt. The flaky crystals add that final pop of salt and a little texture to a finished dish. I especially love using it to finish my steaks.
