Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings
Crispy, savory, and perfectly seasoned—these Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings are an irresistible snack or meal that delivers big flavor with minimal fuss. Fly Chef Alden B shares his easy, crowd-pleasing recipe.
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs chicken wings, tips removed and split
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional for smoky depth)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (or your choice of cooking oil)
- 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- 1 fresh chili or jalapeu00f1o, thinly sliced (optional for heat)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top for crispy wings.
- Pat chicken wings dry thoroughly with paper towels to remove excess moisture—this step is key for crispiness.
- In a large bowl, toss the wings with vegetable oil until evenly coated.
- Combine salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika (if using) in a small bowl. Sprinkle the seasoning mix evenly over the wings and toss again to coat fully.
- Arrange wings in a single layer on the wire rack, leaving some space between each.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, flipping halfway through, until skin is golden brown and crispy, and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Remove from oven, garnish with chopped green onions and sliced chili if you like a little heat.
- Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce or enjoy as is!
Tips from Alden B
- For extra crispy wings, let them rest uncovered in the fridge for an hour before baking to dry out the skin.
- Try using Alden’s Southern Made Creole Seasoning for a flavorful twist.
- Adjust seasoning amounts based on your spice tolerance—add more pepper or chili for bold heat.
- Air fryer users: Cook at 400°F for 20-25 minutes shaking halfway for equally crisp results.
These wings are your new go-to for game day, weeknight dinners, or whenever cravings strike. Don’t forget to tag @flychefaldenb with your creations!
