The Ultimate Patty Melt (with a Heart-Healthy Twist + Serious Flavor)
There’s just something about a patty melt that hits every craving buttery toasted bread, melty cheese, sweet caramelized onions, and a juicy patty. This version has all the comfort you expect, but with a few flavorful twists: a heart-healthy creamy sauce made with avocado mayo, a touch of heat from Sylvia’s hot sauce, and a big flavor boost thanks to Kinder’s Woodfired Garlic seasoning. I also added a little mustard to the patties to lock in the juiciness and give it that punch of flavor.
Whether you’re making this for date night, a cozy solo meal, or feeding the family, this patty melt does not miss.
Instructions
1. Caramelize the onions
Melt 1 tbsp butter in a skillet over medium-low heat. Add the sliced onions and cook low and slow for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally until soft, golden, and sweet. Set aside.
2. Season and cook the patties
In a bowl, mix ground beef with yellow mustard, Kinder’s Woodfired Garlic seasoning, salt, and pepper. Form into two thin patties, a little larger than your bread slices.
Cook in a hot skillet for 3–4 minutes per side until browned and juicy. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
3. Mix the sauce
Stir together all sauce ingredients in a small bowl. Taste and adjust as needed — more hot sauce if you like a kick, or extra pickle juice for tang.
4. Assemble the melts
Butter one side of each bread slice. On the unbuttered side, layer:
•Cheese
•Patty
•Caramelized onions
•Spoonful of sauce
•More cheese
•Second slice of bread (buttered side facing out)
5. Grill to golden perfection
In a clean skillet, grill sandwiches over medium heat 2–3 minutes per side until the bread is crispy and the cheese is fully melted. Press down slightly with a spatula for that perfect crust.
6. Serve & enjoy
Let it rest for a minute, then slice and serve with extra sauce on the side for dipping. Optional: pair with chips, pickles, or a simple side salad.
Final Thoughts
This patty melt is classic comfort food with a flavorful twist. The smoky garlic seasoning, melty cheese, and heart-conscious sauce bring it all together. It’s bold, buttery, and easy enough to make any night of the week.
