Matcha Latte with Almond Milk

Servings: 1 cup

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp matcha green tea powder (culinary or ceremonial grade)

  • 2 oz hot water (not boiling; ~175°F / 80°C)

  • 6 oz unsweetened almond milk (or sweetened, to taste)

  • Sweetener to taste (optional: honey, maple syrup, or stevia)

  • Ice cubes (optional, for iced version)


Equipment:

  • Small bowl

  • Bamboo whisk (chasen) or handheld milk frother

  • Small pot or microwave-safe container

  • Mug or glass


Instructions:

  1. Sift & Whisk Matcha:
    Sift 1 tsp of matcha into a small bowl to remove clumps.
    Add 2 oz of hot water. Whisk vigorously in a zigzag motion until frothy.

  2. Heat or Froth Almond Milk:

    • Hot version: Warm almond milk in a pot or microwave. Do not boil.

    • Iced version: Use cold almond milk.
      Optional: Froth the milk for a creamy texture.

  3. Sweeten (Optional):
    Stir in your preferred sweetener, if using, into the milk or matcha.

  4. Combine:

    • Hot: Pour warm almond milk into the matcha mixture.

    • Iced: Add ice to a glass, then pour matcha over the milk and ice.

  5. Serve & Enjoy!
    Stir gently. Sip and enjoy your calm, earthy Matcha Latte.
