A spicy twist on the diner classic—this Jalapeño Patty Melt melts your taste buds in all the right ways. Cheesy, beefy, buttery, and with just the right kick.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 preferred)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt & pepper, to taste
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1-2 jalapeños, sliced (seeds removed for less heat)
- 4 slices rye or sourdough bread
- 4 slices pepper jack or American cheese
- 1 tablespoon mayo (optional, for grilling bread)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Form into 2 wide, flat patties slightly larger than your bread.
- In a skillet, sauté sliced onions and jalapeños in butter over medium heat until soft and golden, about 6–8 minutes. Set aside.
- Cook the patties in the same skillet until browned and cooked through (about 4 minutes per side). Remove and set aside.
- Assemble the melt: Bread slice → cheese → patty → onion/jalapeño mix → cheese → bread slice.
- Spread a thin layer of mayo or butter on the outside of the bread. Grill in a skillet on medium-low heat until both sides are crispy and the cheese is melted.
- Slice in half and serve hot with pickles or fries!
