A spicy twist on the diner classic—this Jalapeño Patty Melt melts your taste buds in all the right ways. Cheesy, beefy, buttery, and with just the right kick.

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 preferred)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1-2 jalapeños, sliced (seeds removed for less heat)
  • 4 slices rye or sourdough bread
  • 4 slices pepper jack or American cheese
  • 1 tablespoon mayo (optional, for grilling bread)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Form into 2 wide, flat patties slightly larger than your bread.
  2. In a skillet, sauté sliced onions and jalapeños in butter over medium heat until soft and golden, about 6–8 minutes. Set aside.
  3. Cook the patties in the same skillet until browned and cooked through (about 4 minutes per side). Remove and set aside.
  4. Assemble the melt: Bread slice → cheese → patty → onion/jalapeño mix → cheese → bread slice.
  5. Spread a thin layer of mayo or butter on the outside of the bread. Grill in a skillet on medium-low heat until both sides are crispy and the cheese is melted.
  6. Slice in half and serve hot with pickles or fries!
